Dr. Claudia Gray brings decades of experience, leadership, and passion for veterinary medicine to her role at Pathways Animal Hospital. A native of Williamsville, New York—the very community she serves—Dr. Gray’s journey has come full circle. After growing up in the Buffalo suburb, she left to pursue her education, attending Skidmore College before earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Binghamton University. She went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 2000. In 2003, she returned to the Buffalo area, drawn back by the strong sense of community she describes as “magnetic.”
Dr. Gray owned and operated Alliance Animal Hospital starting in 2014, where she built a reputation for compassionate care and lasting client relationships. Her path into veterinary medicine was less of a deliberate decision and more of a defining realization—an “aha” moment during her second year of college when she recognized that becoming a veterinarian was her calling.
Professionally, Dr. Gray has a special interest in small animal reproduction and surgery, while maintaining a strong appreciation for all aspects of general practice. She is particularly passionate about reproductive medicine and the possibilities it offers, including the use of cryogenic preservation. As a Certified Zoetis Freeze Center, she has successfully helped produce litters using frozen canine semen—even samples preserved for over 25 years—an achievement she finds both fascinating and deeply rewarding for advancing and preserving pedigrees.
Her leadership and commitment to the veterinary field are reflected in her service as a past president of the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society. She is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the Western New York Veterinary Medical Association (WNYVMA), the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the Society for Theriogenology.
Dr. Gray finds immense fulfillment in building long-term relationships with clients and their pets, often caring for multiple generations over time. She is inspired by the opportunity to help pet owners understand their animals’ health and to work collaboratively toward solutions. She continues to embrace her role as both a healer and an empath, forming meaningful connections through the human-animal bond.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Gray is a dedicated mother to her two children, Owen and Ella, who inspire her daily with their growth, curiosity, and evolving perspectives. She shares her life with her husband, Andy, whose outgoing nature and love for connection bring energy to everything he does—including a memorable sailing trip to Antarctica in 2025.
An avid cyclist, Dr. Gray rides between 5,000 and 7,000 miles each year and has explored routes across the United States and Europe, including Switzerland and France. She is a member of the Niagara Frontier Bicycling Club and the Buffalo Bicycling Club and recently discovered a love for cyclocross racing. Her passion for cycling began with the Empire State Ride in 2019, a 500+ mile fundraising journey from New York City to Niagara Falls supporting Roswell Park Cancer Institute. This cause holds deep personal meaning, as she lost her mother, Christine Cataldo, to breast cancer at the age of 42. Her mother’s legacy as a pioneer in early childhood education continues to inspire Dr. Gray both personally and professionally.
